The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien

Title: The Return of the King

Author: J.R.R. Tolkien

Series: The Lord of the Rings #3

Genre: Fantasy

Summary: The book finishes a dashing tale of the quest to defeat Sauron, the bringer of darkness to Middle Earth. It tells of the great battles fought by men and elves to bring down the darkness and the journey of Sam and Frodo to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring. It also tells the tale of Gollum, who the ring tormented to madness and in the end, death.

What’s Good About It: I really do like this book because it’s a tale of bravery, determination and selfless duty that really inspires me to poetry and deeper thought. Also because the author was a devout Catholic rasied by a priest. If you read between the lines and deeper into LOTR you realise the Christian message is there for us all to see.

What Wasn’t So Good: I can’t think of anything!

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Title: The Hobbit

Author: J.R.R. Tolkien

Series: Lord of the Rings Prequel

Genre: Fantasy

Summary: Frodo Baggins is called to go on a quest by 9 Dwarven Kings and a wizard named Gandalf to defeat an evil dragon.

What’s Good About It: It was an interesting read because there are many stories all contained in an epic quest. This book was really good because of the feelings the writer makes you feel. For example when the characters are fighting you feel their adrenaline and fierceness.

What Wasn’t So Good: There is nothing to improve.
